PR interval ECG explained for nurses, nursing students, ACLS, NCLEX, and more.
The PR interval starts at the beginning of the P wave and extends to the beginning of the QRS complex. This demonstrates the amount of time it takes for the electrical signal to go from atria to the AV node.
The PR interval should measure 0.12-0.20 seconds (3-5 small squares on the EKG strip). If it is longer that that, it could indicate a heart block.
