As a pediatric nurse, you’ll be performing infant head-to-toe assessments, and taking an infant’s / newborn’s measurements.

One of the assessments you’ll perform is measuring the infants head circumference. To do this, you’ll want to apply a flexible tape measure that preferably measures in centimeters. A newborn’s skull should measure around 33-38 cm.

Place the tape measure around the largest part of the skull’s diameter, which is usually above the eyebrows and around the most protruding part of the skull’s posterior aspect.
