Sitting and standing with a cane: Tutorial
To sit down with a cane (stand-to-sit), back up to the chair until you feel the chair on the back of the legs. Rest the cane on the chair’s side. Put both hands on the chair’s arm rest, and lower the body while keeping the weak leg extended.
To sit up with a cane (sit-to-stand). Place the cane on the strong side and sit forward. Push down on the cane’s hand grip and the chair’s armrest. Put the weight on the strong leg, and stand into position.
