How to sit down and stand up with a walker, also known as sit to stand walker demonstration nursing review for NCLEX, nursing school, and patient education.
If you have a patient who requires the assistive devices such as a walker, it is important that you educate them on the proper technique to sit down in a chair or to get up from a chair using the walker.
To sit down with a walker, slowly back up to the chair until you can feel it with your legs. Next, extend the weak leg, put the hands behind to feel for the chair, and slowly lower yourself until you fit into the chair.
To stand with a walker, lean forward in the chair, extend the weak leg out, push up with the arms and strong leg, and then grip the walker with your hands.
