When performing a lung assessment or head-to-toe assessment, you’ll want to listen for abnormal (or adventitious) lung sounds.
Fine crackles tend to occur toward the end of inspiration, and they have a high pitch. These sounds are similar to that of a light cracks or pops of a fire.
